Amazing Thailand. Want to throw a party, just close off the public street in front of your house, pitch a tent and party on.

A few from Tree Town and surrounds from earlier this evening.

I was on Walking Street last week, had a good time.  Doorman wouldn't let me into Pinup at 7:55 so I went over to XS for a beer, when I came back at 8:30 I was lucky to get a table in the back.  The b

Sanctuary of Truth.  Admission is 500 baht.  Quite busy this afternoon.  They do try to get visitors to stay in groups (50 in our case).  I managed to get lost from the group and did my own thing taki

What's this new place about, at the top of soi 15...Buakhao end? Anybody know more......?

I do hope they don't resume the digging up on that corner, or it will be stuffed before it can get going..... some other new places are struggling.....

Is it me or is the baht weakening? The reality is the Thai economy is heading in a positive direction with exports (particularly to China)  on the up, ..and tourism projected to get close to 2019 numbers next year. The gray cloud on the horizon... when will a new majority government be created?

It happens every year,it coincides with the low season for tourists. We all then get exited and book flights for next winter.Come the high season or when I arrive on my annual trip, it does a switcheroo and my Euro turns to dust.Every effing year it's the same.I have just spent €2400 on flights and hotels for january.youll all see.

Real pity about Dynamite it was just getting going as well. Just another example though of how tough the business is in Pattaya to survive. All about location location and foot traffic of the masses .

Any ideas why I cannot upload anything above 1MB always say file is too big ?

That location has been through a few iterations.. ..I  recall it being remodeled to quite a nice looking Italian  restaurant .... I think Covid killed that off. Quite a number of folks come here with money in their pocket and ideas, ambition and motivation.... and can't get it to work.

@frostfire needs to move you out of the 'upgrade' group to 'Participant' I suspect.

I thought the Italian place, (Volare?), was there for a good few years. I recall eating in there when I stayed around that area for a few days in 2014. It may have had 1 or 2 refurbishments but I always thought it was a long standing business.

Well a few years is a good run here I suppose....but perhaps they were refurbs....or they got new blinds. I usually trust to your memory better than mine.

Street View has a good historical record of the location dating from Oct 2012 when the building was being built, and then yearly updates beginning in 2016.

Photos of the new median they're putting in on Thepprasit. What's odd is there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason where they're putting in the cut throughs.

Standing at a cut through where there are no soi's intersecting Thepprasit, looking towards Sukhumvit.
P6200001.jpg

Same cut through looking west.
P6200004.jpg

Not sure if this will eventually be a cut through for Soi 11.
P6200005.jpg

Across from the Forum, which is closed, they have a cut through, but for west bound traffic wanting to go to the market another 25m distance, they'll have to do a U-Turn and then quickly make their way across two lanes of busy traffic. A recipe for traffic accidents.
P6200007.jpg

There's another cut through near, but not directly opposite Soi 15. Bizarre placement of that cut through.
P6200011.jpg

There's a cut through for those going to and coming from Soi 17, but if you live in the T.W. Palm/Jomtien Beach Condos and you're east bound, it's going to be another 1km of travel past the entrance and a couple of U-Turns to get to your condo. Or if you're on two wheels you can do what most are doing, and what I did this morning visiting a friend who lives there and use this cut through to travel about 20m against traffic to get to the entrance. Amazing Thailand.

The view down a fairly desolate Soi 15 in 2012, before the development of Grande Avenue etc was a reminder of just how recent a lot of development in the Buakhau area has been.

@jacko

"Is it the only place to go now....Walking St no longer suits the Expat. Except maybe the 3 Windmills....."

3 Windmills?

There are 2 Windmills, and each has 2 floors.

I believe the Dollhouse has been acquired and will reopen as Windmill 3.
