Pictures from around Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I was thinking that as I rode into town and back on my little motorcycle yesterday... not only the damaged and bumpy road surface caused by previous burying of drainage and subsequent flooding... but all the damned drain covers which give you a good bump and are impossible to get around. I came home via Sukhumvit for a change, but that has other issues, too much reckless traffic. Damned tourists are coming!
I hate to admit defeat but I am getting traffic horrors in Pattaya. Thank Buddha for Bolt and an easy to use app.

A few from Tree Town and surrounds from earlier this evening.

I was on Walking Street last week, had a good time.  Doorman wouldn't let me into Pinup at 7:55 so I went over to XS for a beer, when I came back at 8:30 I was lucky to get a table in the back.  The b

Sanctuary of Truth.  Admission is 500 baht.  Quite busy this afternoon.  They do try to get visitors to stay in groups (50 in our case).  I managed to get lost from the group and did my own thing taki

I cringe thinking about needing to use 2 wheels as transport in Pattaya.  Have lost 2 friends over the years.  Between horrible roads and unskilled or drunk drivers I find myself acting like a WWI pilot when I WALK near a road with my head on a swivel.

I guess at least moving with traffic is something.  Baffles me when I watch people walk side by side in groups on Soi Buakao or other narrow busy roads.  They must think angels watch over them.

Bolt is the greatest addition to Pattaya since the 90s.

If you're on two wheels, keep an eye out on Soi 15 for the major cracks and holes in the concrete that was put down only a few months ago.

Another comment relating to this. I recall someone posting an AI pic of soi 15 back during the time of the great dig, when it looked more like Flanders. Fancy and perfect Tarmac, and a long way from where we are now. I know the broken bits you mean!

I think slow moving around central Pattaya is okay and quite safe... when I have to share a bigger road with coaches, trucks and cement mixers I get fearful.

The Indian pedestrians seem to be completely without fear as they walk in the roads!

I came home yesterday , should not have drank at Swampy knowing I only have a 45 min flight. I make it home and the wife opens the security gate and I drop the CBR. Wife is gentle and suggests my motorcycle days are waning. I agree and tell her I still want to go to Pattaya so maybe I'll buy an airplane. The look on her face. "You know I was a Pilot when I was young?" The look on her face.  Maybe a single engine Piston?
