  1. Binge watching Boardwalk Empire now. Just finished S01E08. Really enjoying this series.
  2. Yes. On the north side of Tree Town the soi connects through to MIT.
  3. OP, need an account on PL to read the thread you linked to. As to the question of merging the two boards, you would probably lose more members than you would gain.
  4. Agree with everything you wrote. When it first opened it attracted far more customers, and had more ladies available for take out. Not sure why the custom has fallen off. Prices are inline for bars offering live music, and as you stated, the band is very good.
  5. IIRC, the original underpass project included plans for a handicap accessible walk over bridge. Noticed about six months ago they had started construction of that overpass. Until today I hadn't thought about taking pics, and as it turns out there was no rush to do so. Considering they've been working on it for over six months, not much progress to show for the effort. Walkway on the Father Ray Foundation side of Suk. More progress to date on the East side of Suk.
  6. If it's solid green light, then you can turn right before the right turn arrow comes on. However, most intersections have a green arrow for straight ahead traffic which means you can not legally turn right until the right turn arrow is lit. According to the law, a vehicle must remain behind the solid white line at a controlled intersection until the light in the direction you want to travel is green. Most intersections in and around Pattaya that law is ignored and not enforced, except, as you found out in Jomtien. I used to do the same as you, but fortunately I read on another forum the BIB in Jomtien like to hide at those intersection and catch the unwary.
  7. Currently binge watching The 100. Up to S4E09. Found season 1 to be just ok, but good enough to keep me watching additional seasons. Glad too as I thought season 2 & 3 were very good. Season 4 I'm withholding judgement until I watch the last episode.
  8. Deadwood is one of my all time favorite shows. Some great quotes too from the series. Here's one of many. Al Swearengen: God rest the souls of that poor family... and pussy's half price for the next 15 minutes. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348914/quotes
  9. Secrets just did another upgrade and the latest version came with quite a few new emoticons.
  10. You'll need to get up at the butt crack of dawn to catch the train from BKK. "The special train will leave Hua Lamphong station in Bangkok every Saturday and Sunday at 6.45am"
  11. Lots of interesting places to stop and admire around Pattaya. Once such is the new Wat going up on the Wat Samakkhi Pracharam grounds located on the NE end of Huai Chak Nok lake. Shots of the existing buildings on the Wat grounds. And Huai Chak Nok has more water in it than I've seen in the last four or five years.
  12. What a great write up on the trials and tribulations of what goes on behind the curtain. Mr. Google sure has made investigating problems a lot quicker and easier, and good on you frostfire for giving back to the online community with searchable issues and how you overcame them.
  13. Internet providers are asking foreigners to pay 12 months in advance for service. Easy way around that, if you have a TGF, get her to sign the service contract then you can pay month to month. If you end service before the contract is up you'll be on the hook for the cost of the router, and possibly the remaining months of the service contract. Since you're only here for a relatively short period of time each year, suggest looking into 4G data plans. I have one with AIS that costs 99B/week for 2GB/week. Speed is great too. 20ms ping, 30 Mbps/DL, 26 Mbps/UL.
  14. I'm a fan of Johnny too. A grade three teacher is giving a lesson on nutrition, and she decides to ask her students what they had for breakfast. To add a spelling component, she asks the students to also spell their answers. Susan puts up her hand and says she had an egg, 'E-G-G.' 'Very good,' says the teacher. Peter says he had toast 'T-O-A-S-T.' 'Excellent.' Johnny has his hand up, and the teacher reluctantly calls on him. 'I had fuck all,' he says, 'F-U-C-K A-L-L.' The teacher is mortified and scolds Johnny for his rude answer. Later, when the lesson turns to geography, she asks the students some rudimentary questions. Susan correctly identifies the Capital of Canada. Peter is able to tell her which ocean is off Canada's east coast. When it's Johnny's turn, the teacher remembers his rude answer from the nutrition lesson, and decides to give him a very difficult question. 'Johnny,' she asks, 'Where is the Pakistani border?' Johnny ponders the question and finally says, 'The Pakistani boarder is in bed with my mother. That's why I got fuck all for breakfast.'
  15. If there were a vote, I'd vote to stay with the current version of the forum software. Not worth the time, effort and hair pulling to upgrade, IMHO. Edited to add: Would Phil at Le Pub be willing to accept cash donations for the board?
  16. I like the idea of linking PT to a business. A positive for the business as the forum would be a good promotional tool, and a positive for the BM's as the business could serve as a gathering spot for BM's. And thank you frostfire for helping to keep the forum going.
  17. It's part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, along with lighting off boat loads of firecrackers in the morning. Next CNY is 5 Feb.
  18. Good summary of what to expect and what's needed. Matches my experience and Pattaya Pete's who posted his experience in this thread, Thai driver's licence renewal in Pattaya - The complete guide.
  19. I've been going midweek, mid-afternoon to avoid the lines and crowds. Although in the last couple of years that is becoming a less effective strategy due to the increase in the number of people requiring immigration services. And even more so in the last six months with the enforcement of the TM30 reporting. Wonder how long it will be before immigration makes a move to larger quarters.
  20. Finally, online reporting worked for me, although not anywhere close to getting approved as fast as you experienced. My 90 day report is due 14 Feb. Made the online application on 2 Feb. Checked every couple of days since then and status always showed pending. Figured I'd have to bite the bullet and make a trip to the office tomorrow, but lucky me, the email just arrived stating "Notification 90 days is Approved". Side note: When making the online application I kept getting the useless popup error message that my application wasn't accepted. Finally dawned on me that as a Yank I was entering my b'day as mm/dd/yyyy instead of the European format of day first. Once I overcame that mental hurdle all was good and my online report was duly accepted.
  21. Have a look at Bang Lamung Exercise Park - Bike Path
  22. Could very well be they're getting ready to gouge the Chinese during the Chinese New Year next week. Remember this scene from two years ago?

    New TM6

I used to always put my visa number where asked for, until one trip back last year the officer kindly told me it's the re-entry permit number that should go there. On previous trips back the officer must have been correcting the number w/o telling me. Millions of travelers must have made the same mistake over the years. Shame they didn't take the opportunity with the redesigned form to make it clearer what is required.
  24. I've called True in the past during the day and have got the English voice prompt menu option. For whatever reason, last night it was a different type of voice prompt system with the option to get English by saying "confirm". First time I've encountered that voice prompt menu. I did try calling back a couple of times when the first attempt at saying confirm failed, but on several of the call back attempts I didn't get the option for English. Think it was the fourth attempt at calling back that I again got the English option, but when that failed for second time I went with the flow and dealt with the Thai options as best I could.
