  1. You've got to do something to fill in time waiting for next appointment....
  2. This one is important:
  3. Sorry englishinsiam, but couldn't help this: My wife had her teeth whitened this morning, but to be honest, most went onto her chin....
  4. HOW TO WRITE GOOD Frank L. Visco My several years in the word game have learnt me several rules: 1. Avoid alliteration. Always. 2. Prepositions are not words to end sentences with. 3. Avoid clichés like the plague. (They're old hat.) 4. Employ the vernacular. 5. Eschew ampersands & abbreviations, etc. 6. Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are unnecessary. 7. It is wrong to ever split an infinitive. 8. Contractions aren't necessary. 9. Foreign words and phrases are not apropos. 10. One should never generalize. 11. Eliminate quotations. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: “I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.” 12. Comparisons are as bad as cliches. 13. Don't be redundant; don't more use words than necessary; it's highly superfluous. 14. Profanity sucks. 15. Be more or less specific. 16. Understatement is always best. 17. Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement. 18. One-word sentences? Eliminate. 19. Analogies in writing are like feathers on a snake. 20. The passive voice is to be avoided. 21. Go around the barn at high noon to avoid colloquialisms. 22. Even if a mixed metaphor sings, it should be derailed. 23. Who needs rhetorical questions?
  5. I stay at Jings (and I was sure there was another recent thread on this exact topic, but it seems to have disappeared). Jings is a Guesthouse, but the Fenny Foo's Mews are great rooms and it is a fantastic central place to stay: http://www.jings.in.th/
  6. Great shot, Joe - he caught the mood beautifully.
  7. Yep, wish this had come at another time too. I am flying both ways from Aust to LOS in just less than 3 weeks. Gives me something to think about, or means that I will have to board a little more pissed than normal. Oh well, we all have to put up with shit sometime.
  8. I actually think I may have seen a few farang who weren't British in those photos...
  9. I agree with BeeryBelly. I have stayed in a couple of Ibis hotels in Australia and the bathrooms have been drop in modules that are quite 'squeezy', while the bedrooms are way too tiny for me. That is why I have never stayed in one in LOS.
  10. With the habits that Chinese tourists seems to have around Pattaya, I wonder if they shit in the cockpits of their aircraft...?
  11. Glad to hear your TGF is okay. Hope she recovers well.
  12. I often get the 7-11 girl to put my credit into the phone, and I have no qualms about it. I don't do it at a busy time, and I do give her a good tip for the effort.
  13. Thanks, Mate. Brings Pattaya a bit closer, although I will be there in a few weeks. Woo Hoo!
  14. Thanks again. Still quite humourous.
  15. Pity I won't be there until late next month. So looking forward to getting my teeth into some more of your great tucker!
  16. I think you are correct on both issues (above) 4 Wheels. I did notice (later) this statement above the schedule : "Here's a complete list of credit amounts for routes that are redeemable with AirAsia Asean Pass (also applicable for return journey):" So, yes, you could get out of Cambodia by returning to Bangkok, but only once using that route.
  17. Hmm, Just for interest, I see you can travel from Bangkok to Siem Reap (or Phnom Penh) but there is no way you can get back from, or even out of, Cambodia. There are no flights FROM Cambodia listed in the schedule. WTF?
  18. That last dish looks great.
  19. Try changing the "so/" in the address above to "to/". I think that may be the problem.
  20. But your eyes glow in the dark....
  21. You are doing a great job up there, Mate. Looking forward to my return in April.
  22. They don't have to be all that expensive. I have bought specs from this on-line company a number of times over the past 6 years, or so, and found them to be pretty reliable: http://www.zennioptical.com/ Check them out - their costs are good, but when you add on all the extras you may want they do get more pricey (of course). Taking into consideration that they have to be made, I think the delivery times are good.
  23. Exactly, Jacko. Same, same. Here in Australia I get enough messages (all in Thai) that it sometimes makes me worry that I may have missed something - maybe I did! (and I am on AIS too)
  24. No, (above) I have a number that I use in Thailand, and have for a few years, and I would hate to lose it. I only come over about twice a year, but manage to keep payments up enough to keep ahead enough months until my next visit. I have never been asked to 'register', and I have been using the current number for quite a few years. Now I too would like to know what to "go" is.... I'm reasonably happy to register my number, as I have often wondered about why we haven't had to, and what a problem it could be in the future (particularly since 9/11) but am wary about what difficulties I will have with language confusion in a 7/11, when I DO try to register. Please keep us occasional visitors informed on this.
