I've been told that one of my favourite breakfast venues, Tropical Bert's, has closed its doors, at least in its present site and may have moved to new premises, somewhere else. Please, what is the latest on that?

Fire and Stone Pizzeria on Pattaya Klang
yorta2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
So glad to see this restaurant using sausage in the spaghetti, instead of beef. This is the Italian way and, as Evil has stated, main ingredients are imported from Italy. Perhaps Hungarians are not aware of that fact - Italians will cook the Italian way, when using Italian ingredients (and NO, I am not Italian, but just respect their food culture). -
Fire and Stone Pizzeria on Pattaya Klang

Wow! Pizza is coming of age in Patts. I've generally avoided it for years in Thailand, but your comments and pictures over the past year have renewed my appetite for Thailand pizza. Thanks, Mate. -
Once again, fantastic! I love that #13.

Last time I was there was in 1968. Things sure have changed. Thanks for the 'update'.

Triangle Bar Business Thread
yorta2 replied to Triangle Bar's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Thanks for a great bar and a great 'thread' on this site. I have only visited the bar once (on my last LOS trip) so missed out on lots of entertainment. Was looking forward to taking a few friends there in April, so will await to see what transpires in the bar now. Whatever, have a great future, Chris. -
Some good ones there , but (as you recognise) I have seen a number almost exactly the same in Thailand.

Steak & Co. on Soi Lengkee (updated May 29, 2015)
yorta2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Yes, I have no problem with having it "on the side", and might even taste it, or use it on the potatoes. However, and I should have made this clear, not having sauce is just my own opinion. I tend to get serious heartburn and reflex from some sauces, particularly those that come in packets. I need to go back to Soi Lengkee and try the 'better', 'more concerted' efforts by staff. -
Steak & Co. on Soi Lengkee (updated May 29, 2015)

What! A good steak is ALL taste - sauce hides the fact that some steaks are tasteless. -
Not sure just who carries pepper spray on a 'run' in Soi 6 though.

Sorry about my lack of concern, but I thought this was a bit funny: Crazed Polish man causes chaos in Soi 6 Bar Zone PATTAYA: -- On Wednesday afternoon, Police were forced to arrest a Polish man for his own safety after he self-harmed and threw items over a 3rd floor balcony above a Soi 6 Bar. The incident occurred above and in front of the Solo Club and involved Mr. Denis Leszek aged 43 who was staying in a 3rd floor apartment above the bar and according to one of the bar workers he had checked in 24 hours before the incident. It was also revealed that he was seen taking a Ladyboy up to his room along with a foreign friend. An altercation took place between the Ladyboy and Mr. Leszek, during which time it is alleged that Mr. Leszek tried to hit him. The other man in the apartment produced a pepper spray canister and sprayed it at the pair in an attempt to stop the fight. At this point Mr. Leszek became enraged and began to destroy items inside the apartment. He also cut himself on the arm and threw items out of his apartment window onto the street below. As bystanders witnessed the altercation from the ground floor, they were shocked to see Mr. Leszek throw himself over his balcony. He fell onto a 2nd floor balcony and then onto the road below and appeared to have suffered no significant injuries. Full story: http://www.pattayaon...soi-6-bar-zone/

Wow, this thread suddenly livened up. Good stuff!

He He, didn't think of that one. Thanks again for the last lost of photos, Rhino.

Thanks, Mate. Although I doubt any ostriches are from Australia - we don't have them (except in zoos).... We do have emus though, and that is probably what they were.

The lamb looks pretty bloody good!

Noise level on LK Metro
yorta2 replied to midlifecrisis's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
From my experience a few months ago, Pasadena Lodge (almost next door to Irish Rovers) was pretty quiet and good value. Breakfast in I.R. was superb. -
Good stuff, Rhino. I haven't been in Chiang Mai for a few years, so will look forward to any more info to spice a revisit. Thanks. (My girl in Sisaket only asked me a couple of days ago, if we might visit there next year).

Loved it!

Steak & Co. on Soi Lengkee (updated May 29, 2015)
yorta2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Good review again. I certainly wondered what this place was like, after seeing what it was intended to be, and so, am very happy to visit there on my next trip. It won't be until after Anzac Day in April, as I am spending a week out in Sisakit in 2 weeks or so.... -
The Balcony Restaurant On Soi Bukhao Now Closed
yorta2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Some great feedback there. Looking forward to trying the Balcony out, but will also steer clear of the T-bone. -
Cherry Bar 9th Year Anniversary. Party - 8th August
yorta2 replied to Hammer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Yes, congratulations, Mate. Wish I was there to celebrate, and I'm sure the night will go off fantastically. -
For me, it depends on the season and the 'crisis' situation, whatever that may be. Sometimes I have found that if there is a dearth of tourists I can get a better deal by speaking with the Hotel directly than I can on Agoda (or other booking site). Other times, the booking agency can get me a better deal than I can negotiate directly. If I can be bothered, I will try both avenues and pick the best option.

Pattayanis Greek Taverna (off Soi Bukhao- Updated Aug. 8)
yorta2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Wow! That Moussaka looks great. -
It is quite remiss of me, but I forgot to make comment on my visit to this restaurant in early May. My TGF and I (along with 2 other friends) dropped in one evening and had dinner. Have to say we all enjoyed it and, although I cannot recall what we ate, we had a fair selection between us all, and all walked out full and happy. Thanks to all the staff who were very pleasant and helpful.
