How did you first discover Thailand?

Recommended Posts

It's been so long ago that I really do not remember how I first came across this country. I do remember thinking, who in the hell goes to Bangkok? I think I was looking for an experience that was totally bizarre and journey that I would never forget. Needless to say I've never forgotten, it's actually changed my life 100%. How did you guys find this far away and bizarre place? what made you come here in the first place? regret it? did it change your life?

Just curious!

2 friends of mine back in 94 were planning on making their annual pigrimage to patts and I got talking to them and they covinced me to go with them, I had no idea what to expect..hell I even shared a room with one of them :grin ...(that was till I discovered you could get a all night shagging session for the price of a good dinner ) when I got there I was blown away by it all, I was originally scheduled to do a 3 week stint while my mates did 4, but I couldn`t bear the thought of going home, so I extended my ticket and rang into work sick..from the beach  sadly both of those two guys that changed my life are both dead..one at a very young age of 43..but I am forever grateful.

the rest as they say is history

First visited Pattaya as a family tourist with my wife and with friends in 1998. My thought was, this is a shithole, disgusting beaches, little brown creatures yelling in the bars...we called the girls " the little climbing monkeys " .... , non of us, the male mates had any flying idea to wishing any sexual encounters with the local girls... ....nothing interesting, we tought it is just miserable.. The wives left us in a soapy while they went to shopping and it was an interesting experience... a hard fight with the massage girl, because I had no any intention to fuck her, she was ugly in my eyes and I was afraid from any possible infections... I was expecting a massage with body not a blow job or a fuck. So .. I thought it was a two in one trip, the first and the last....flying across the half world for a dirty " Z " class beach isn't a bargain...despite the wintertime advantage. Later divorced and played on the net on the russian/ukrainian bride scene. ( I'm fluent in russian, it helped me ) It was very successful and I had a bird, which one I decided to take a winter trip to the summer after our happy times together. The Canary islands were off the option as it is a spain visa, so the best offer was Pattaya. However she cancelled our trip before some days of the departure. ( afraid of the responsibility blah blah blah... hmm.. anyway, a nice gesture, better than the milking machine try... ) The airplain ticket and the hotel was paid ( a 2 bedroom condo through the RCI ) so I called a friend to share the rooms... on the first evening we innocently sat down in a beer bar ( ahh... the good old days ) ....and the rest is history.. he owns now a condo in the VT2 too... Later an other - already - ex husband from the group of the mentioned first crap trip visited me later in Pattaya and still visit the City and running amok with the girls... Hmm... maybe we became just too old to get the real thing and realized the importance of the compromises...

The person I can grateful to know Pattaya as I know today, without the story with her probably I would be never returned :

My first trip was in 1999 for 5 weeks to support work with the Thai Navy in Satahip. I really didn't want to go and they almost had to drag me to the airplane kicking and screaming since it was messing up my annual boat trip with friends and family. Ironic since they also dragged me to the airplane kicking and screaming when it was time to go.

A co-worker had the quote of the trip after going to one of the Soapies. He was married and wanted no part in the sex scene, but he did want to experience the mattress massage. Once the bath and mattress work was done, the lady wanted to add the extras for a tip. He kept going around with wanting only mattress massage and she wanted to do the full deal. He finally offered her the entire tip and she refused saying "no sex I won't take the tip" (IT was over ten years ago). The next day he related the story and how frustrating it was during the negotiations that he could not get more massage. His quote was "I should have just fucked her and saved me all the aggravation"

I discovered the sexual attractions of SE Asia back in 1967 when I was first stationed in Vietnam with the US Army. I returned to Saigon in 1972 for a one year tour. I was stationed in a small stand alone medical dispensary where we were allowed to bring women into the barracks for the night.

A army buddy was stationed with the US Army Hospital, BKK and clued me into the sexual pleasures that was on offer in BKK. I made my first trip to LOS back in 1999 and have returned every year since.

In 1974 the Air Force gave me good news twice over. First, I was going to get to leave South Carolina--believe me, that was good news. Second, I was going to be paid to live in beautiful Nakhon Phanom on the Mekong.

The internet is a wonderful thing :hairout I am a member of a local mongering board for the San Francisco Bay area called Redbook. The board has an international section where members posted trip reports regarding Thailand, which piqued my interest. I started to search for more info and discovered WSG (world sex guide) and this board. Made my first trip about 10 years ago and haven't regretted it for a second :kissing

I received a brochure in the mail from one of those "We'll show you the way" tour companies about 30 years ago. Read it but chucked it in the bin. Ten years ago as I hit the 60 mark I was browsing the web and clicked on something that brought back memories of that brochure. Research and more research and than "what the hell, buy the ticket". Several nights in Bangkok first were just overwhelming. I could count on one hand how many times I had been into a bar up to that time. I was reluctant to take part. Than I went to Pattaya. Some sweet young thing dragged me into a gogo on Pattaya Land 2 and the rest is history.

A mate said let's go to Bangkok, it is supposed to be the sex capital of the world. And at that age it sounded like a good idea.

I was in the last stages of my marriage. I was looking into the Philippines as a place for early retirement. I started finding various message boards online.

A board member here, picoman, lives in the same city. We got aquinted over some bears and he told me a lot about Pattaya. That really got my interest level up.

I separated from my ex in January 2007. I made my first trip that March.

I go once to twice a year now.

I had a 2 for 1 coupon from UAL, so I called a monger friend of mine who'd gone to China with me the year before, and said "Let's go to Costa Rica". He said "I wanna go to Thailand. Here look at this website". I looked and didn't see anything I liked, but since I was getting the frequent flier miles and he was paying for half the ticket, I compromised and said "Ok, but only for 10 days!".

By day 3, I had fallen in love with a lovely faced girl with big stretch marks who worked at Morning-Night Bar at Nana. I spent most of my remaining time with her, booked a ticket to return in 2 months to spend a month traveling around Thailand with her, and when she said "How much you pay me every day?", I came to my senses.

She used every trick in the book on me, and I had no idea how clueless I was.

After that, I alternated months in Thailand with months in the states until I finally decided to move here.

I was such a noob.

Incidentally, my friend met a girl on that first trip, announced to me that she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, came back a few months later and married her. They are still together, living in Thailand.

My lesbian housemate introduced me to Thailand about 10 years ago.

We would go to the GoGo's together, get pissed together and barfine together. We shared the same hotel room, slept in the same bed when it was just the 2 of us but never shared in any sexual experiances.

I have GREAT memories of my introduction to Thailad :clueless

cheers

Rodney

  • 4 weeks later...

By eating Thai food if it was that good from a takeway place here in Australia how good would the real thing be.

We started talking about doing a trip and a guy that BB worked with said if go you have to go to Pattaya.

I did a internet search and a website said Pattaya is the sleazy underbelly of the sex trade of Thailand, will we had to check that out, as they say the rest is history.

Was bored out of mind sitting at work in front of a computer all day. Had just broken up with GF of 6 years. Started thinking I needed to get away from it all and go somewhere far away for a vacation by myself. Did a quick search on Thailand and somehow found this forum. I was already a monger and lo and behold all the stories I read in the Trip Reports section fascinated me. Didn't get around to actually booking the ticket until 3 years later when I broke up with another GF, changed jobs, changed apartments, basically starting a new life less than a year ago. It was a big deal for me to actually go so far away around the world by myself, and boy am I glad I did it. Have made two trips already and if I get that new job offer I'm expecting this week then I may be coming back in a few weeks between jobs!

I also came here in 1967, but with the Royal Australian Navy during Vietnam days, however, my first time was in 1965, also with the Navy - Loved it then and love it now!
