Pattaya lost the North ! ;)

Recommended Posts

Pattaya made the old speedboats park nice for the Naval Review a few month ago
They recently finished the promenade along the marina,
and added this nice compass near the Waterfront building and the Pattaya City sign : B)

It's looks nice for a roundabout, but it suffer a major flaw...
The compass is not oriented correctly !!!

Here is approximatively were the North should be :

Only in Thailand...

For the roundabout it's a nice touch. Hilarious they can't get the orientation of the compass points correct. My guess is some duffass figured since Beach Rd generally runs north and south and is parallel to the beach, then the Waterfront beach must be the same.

You can just imagine some guy got his fancy phone out and opened his compass App and said 'This Way', fogetting to do the silly figure of 8 dance to get it calibrated.

As you say, only in Thailand!

there are actually 3 norths.

Magnetic, True and Grid. shame he couldn't even get one out of three!.

Still, magnetic North does change occasionally so one day, it might actually be correct.

And there was me expecting a GOT reference.

They are pretty close when you are located near the equator Butch.

How many degrees out are we talking here, 90?

The pull of so many chrome poles?

Deserved a greenie for wit.

But from my old school science I recall chrome isn't magnetic at room temperature ............It only transforms into a paramagnetic elemental solid when, (as you suggest), Hoy and her sisters are attached to it...... Amazing Thailand.

I could add that some of the bigger women in the old, 'Hot and Cold' agogo...... had there own gravitational fields.

At $32 per 100g I am thinking the poles are not solid Chromium!

Whatever else they are made of needs to hold up to handle the bigger women.

The last time I licked one it appeared to be constructed of anchovies.

I love this idea and applaud the designers. I worry that pretty soon, it could be covered in garbage thrown from the Chinese tour buses that will ply the attraction. Additionally, my gyro has usually toppled fairly early in the day and I have no idea where north is. Thank goodness for the GPS in my phone....

Hi,

Nice touch. I dont think it matters a damn if it correctly aligned. Sometimes when people think they are seeing God, I see the Devil.

Perhaps a re-calibration of your moral compass is in order Wac.

This guy ain't getting as warm a welcome as he thought.

POPE Francis was hit by an object thrown from a person in the crowds gathered in Chile on the first day of his South America tour, which has been marred by violent protests and angry street clashes.

It's not like it was a rock or something smelly, Tom Jones and Elvis got it too!

Today, walking back from the marina, 50 meters from the above compass :

202.jpg

"PIRE"...

203.jpg

and 100 m farther... ;)

For this one I talked to the worker, but he was not interested. So I made sign to the guy who looked like the boss, who listened to me and checked its document where it was clearly written "PIER" with a big drawing and numbers of char patterns to use... Probably the same team that made the compass orientation...

I will check soon but this one, in front of Waterfront, should be well spelled B)

Buddha forbid they should ever listen to a farang. The arrogance of the Thai truly amaze me sometimes. Great pics Idefix.
