Friend from Bangkok down over Christmas. We were crossing 2cd road and he said the crosswalk is over there. I laughed. When i first started riding a motorbike and aware of the reputation i decided just to plod along in the left "slow" lane. This is a very bad idea. The baht buses even though they seem mindful moving back will cause other traffic to stop short. I was going down beach road last week and a guy walk out hidden between cars looking at his phone. It was ok but i had to grab 2 handfuls of brakes. The worst are the drivers flinging open the door. Between the tourist coming back and the construction im not finding riding relaxing anymore.  yselmike gives sound advice.

A few from Tree Town and surrounds from earlier this evening.

I was on Walking Street last week, had a good time.  Doorman wouldn't let me into Pinup at 7:55 so I went over to XS for a beer, when I came back at 8:30 I was lucky to get a table in the back.  The b

Sanctuary of Truth.  Admission is 500 baht.  Quite busy this afternoon.  They do try to get visitors to stay in groups (50 in our case).  I managed to get lost from the group and did my own thing taki

Don't drive in the gutter in town, the baht buses will get you... out of town you need to keep to the left more I have found. As to pedestrian crossings, never trust them, on any road.

Seeing the clueless idiots with no situational awareness walking around I'm amazed there aren't more pedestrians going down from being hit by vehicles or motorbikes.

My friend did well with his Christmas present on Soi 6 but paid 1500 for the girl and a 500 baht room fee seemed high to me. But maybe i'm out of touch? Others here might know.Agree with Pine tree, these girls have packed on the kilos over the years and i like thin.

Power pole removal project on Pattaya Central Road will be completed in November 2022, deputy mayor says

If the officials had been smart about their announcement they wouldn't have mentioned the year. Pic from this morning.

They have also managed to get ugly.  The pretty, slim ones are all on line, not being controlled by the bar pimps and keeping all the dosh.  The ugly, old, fat ones are in Soi bars.  You can still  find the odd gem of course, but they tend to be a bit too young and star fish like.  Only my view of course.  I have a mate who loves the old fat birds because nothing is off the table with them and I mean nothing and they're as cheap as chips.  Not for me.

If you mean they're loosing the poles to piss on, then not to worry, they'll have the shinny new electric junction boxes that are now blocking the footpath to relieve themselves on.

They would not be true Thai footpaths unless there was something blocking them and forcing people out into the traffic!

A deeper red would be more suitable as the blood stains will not show... beware of using these crossings!

I almost git killed one time at a pedestrian crossing on Beach Road. Near the Hilton, I think. Anyway, the light was green to cross, and cars were stopped along with a big bus. I made the mistake of thinking it was OK to cross the street.  I got halfway across when a motorbike taxi came flying through the crosswalk, full speed. I didn’t see it coming because the big bus was blocking the view.  I guess he figured the crosswalk and the red light didn’t apply to him. Somehow, he missed me.

I am amused when I see the money that the city is spending on road signage etc. Bright re-painted ped crossings, cross hatching at intersections (do not block) etc. All of which will be totally ignored by Thai drivers.

The general point is that the actual outcome is irrelevant, be it hyper expensive ornate street lamps, underpasses, twinkling Christmas type lights separating road lanes or your garish pedestrian crossings.

What matters most is that all the chosen snouts get to gorge in these metaphoric fiscal feeding troughs as the city's cash cascades down through the time honoured food chain.

True but there is a proper beach now days and it's getting used.lots of families with small kids mingling with the hookers. They have also got rid of the mass of wires that were an eye sore.It actually looks good at night with all the lights, especially north of Klang.Get rid of the dogs, find a way of sieving the sand to get rid of all the cigarette butts, finish the sidewalks, replant the trees, pressure wash and hey presto there's a half decent promenade.

I had a Bolt driver take me down this road as I adamantly declared and repeatedly insisted my condominium isn't on this road. As if the Bolt driver's stubbornness wasn't frustrating enough, this road and its bumps in a Yaro is bone jarring. A true Moto Cross experience.
