Had 4 seats to myself middle row to LOS for first time thialand from Oman - slept maybe a few winks but felt great well rested - being awake for so long b4 helped - was too exited

Back was evil - 7-8 hours to Oman stuffed full ( i cryed like a baby most of the way), plane with fat old lady ferangs - yuk - 4 hours stopover then 7-8 to uk - godamn awefull and tired and emotionally a frikkin child.

few days later direct flight from uk back to LOS full flight, 2.5 hour delay, 12 hour flight no sleep - didnt give a shit to exited to get back

Left LOS for 12 hour back - again had 4 seats to myself - slept like a baby - my holiday was done - now i can sleep - didnt notice the journey until back - no tears!

Yep, sleeping tablets are not what they used to be and you can pop one, actually get to sleep, and wake up without a hangover, and ready to burn and turn. I used to be afraid of the aircraft crashing whilst I was asleep, now realise that it might be a better way to go. :clueless :yikes: :allright

I sometimes nap a little, but that's about it. I don't take sleeping pills, though, so I've never tried that. Some people seem to think Melatonin works. Anyway, I usually just watch movies or read or eat. It's torture on the 13 or 18 hour flights, but I survive.

If I drink any alcohol before or during the flight...forgetabout any saleep.

if I refrain from taking a mild saleep aid like tylenol PM/Advil PM/Benadryl...for a couple of weeks b/4 a flight...and then pop 1 or 2 after dinner...I might be able to catch about 10-15 winks...but, not 40.

Talk to your doctor. Mostly it depends on what is stopping you from sleeping. For me, the activity and noise around me keeps my brain running. I tried all of the sleeping pills but no luck. Eventually I found something about xanax being a possibility and bingo. It doesn't make me sleepy at all, it just lets me fade out when I want.

Dosing is VERY low for this.

I am a light sleeper.

I need booze, a bit of food, a bit more booze, a big seat, and I might nod off during the film and get 2 hours sleep out of the 11 hours trip.

I use dormicum, cost about 600 baht for a strip of 10 or 12 from a doctors surgery opposite the vault in pratamnak road. I go out like a light somewhere over eastern europe and wake up, regular as clockwork, over the east coast of india. no after effects.

I can always sleep on a flight. Many times while going to Hawaii for San Francisco, i have fallen asleep at the gate at SFO and woken up on landing in Hawaii. Usually I don't need help but sometimes for the longer trip I will take a sleeping pill. The most important thing is to drink as much water as possible. Alcohol is not good while flying and will make the jet lag much worse. Plenty of water and a light sleep aid came help to prevent jet lag all together.

First trip to Thailand didn't sleep a wink. Hit the a pharmacy in BKK and told the pharmacist my problem. I too can not sleep in any mode

of transportation. He gave me ...............XANAX. The best frigging drug there is for this problem.. :banghead

Basically I take 2 1mg tabs from SFO to TPE and then if I want to pass out again its a 1 mg tab from there. But normally I just do the

2 mg tabs. Wake up with NO sleepy feeling or anything just have absolutely no anxiety for anything. (xanax is an anti-anxiety medication) :D

Make sure if you go this route and buy in Thailand you get the actual xanax and not the generic version...

As long as there's no Terrorists on a flight I can sleep easy.

Stilnox is very good. It was recommended to me by a friend when I was in the Philippines. I wish I had bought more. I found them better for sleep than Xanax.

I haven't seen it available in Thailand.
